Mapping Social Cohesion

Introduction

Attitudes towards social cohesion, multiculturalism and migration shift over time and differ across communities and geographic locations.

Understanding these shifts in perceptions, and the factors that influence them, is a fundamental part of mapping our progress as a welcoming, cohesive nation.

This research stream seeks to identify and explore issues and challenges that influence social cohesion, and examine how different parts of society are responding to them.

Through analysis of the changing dynamics of social cohesion over time, this program explores how shifts in perceptions have helped shape Australian culture and our approach to migration today.
