Refugee Experiences in Australia Study

Published on 30.10.2025

This research study aims to understand the settlement and integration journey of refugee and humanitarian migrants in Australia.

Lead author Trish Prentice’s findings reveal both the progress made and the challenges that remain for those rebuilding their lives after displacement.

The Refugee Experiences in Australia 2025 report, released by the Scanlon Foundation Research Institute in partnership with and funded by the Department of Home Affairs, draws on the experiences of more than 2,000 refugees and humanitarian migrants across the country, including 27 in-depth interviews and focus groups. It provides one of the most comprehensive insights yet into the journey of settlement and integration for these individuals in Australia.
